Visual schedules

A visual schedule is a row of pictures that shows the steps of a routine or a day in order, so a child can see what comes next.

An example morning schedule: wake up, brush teeth, get dressed, breakfast, shoes on, backpack. Breakfast is the current step.

Our kids' schedules started with one Carissa made by hand for her own 2-year-old. They use one clear picture and one short word per card, sized for small hands and a fridge door.

Print the strip and the cards, laminate them, add hook-and-loop dots, and move each card to the done pocket as the routine goes along.
