Each card has a frame for a photo of the real place or step: your grocery store's front door, your doctor's waiting room, your playground gate. The word is printed under the photo, and a colored tab with a punch circle lets the cards ride on a key ring. A what's next strip and bag-size wallet boards put today's stops in order.

The 48 cards with words

Places: home, car, bus, school, park, playground, grocery store, store, library, doctor, dentist, haircut, pharmacy, post office, bank, gas station, restaurant, coffee shop, pool, gym, friend's house, grandma's house, place of worship, airport

Two ways to carry them

  • Key ring: punch a hole through the circle on each tab (1/8 or 3/16 inch on the small cards, 1/4 inch on the big ones) and put the cards on a 1 inch book ring, with a ring cover in front. Clip it to the bag, the stroller or a belt loop.
  • Strip and wallet board: hook-and-loop dots in each slot and on the back of each card. Before you leave, put today's stops in order. When a stop is done, the card goes in the strip's all-done pocket, or back on the ring from a wallet board. A card that only lives on a strip can have its tab cut off.

Who it is for

Parents and caregivers of young children, for photo cards of the places they actually go.

How it works

  1. Photograph each place the first time you go, from your child's eye level.
  2. Print the photos 1 inch square for the small cards (twenty-four fit on one 4x6 print) and 1.5 inches square for the big cards (eight fit on one 4x6).
  3. Print the pages at 100% scale, glue in the photos, laminate, punch the tabs, and add hook-and-loop dots to the strips and boards.

Sizes and format

  • 2 PDF files: the same 7 pages in US Letter (8.5 x 11 in) and A4. Cards and slots are the same size in both.
  • Every page has a 1 inch check ruler. Print at "Actual size" with background graphics on.
  • The photo frames are blank: you add your own photos. The PDFs have no fill-in fields. No clipart and no stock photos are included.
  • Instant download. No physical item is shipped. Rings, laminating pouches, hook-and-loop dots and photo prints are not included.
