Each chore card has a 2 inch frame for a photo of the real thing: their bed, their toy bin, the dog's bowl, the table set for dinner. The job is printed under the photo. A child who doesn't read yet can see which job comes next, and text charts are included for readers.

The 48 chore cards

Getting ready: make my bed, get dressed, brush teeth, brush hair, wash hands, wash face, potty, clothes in hamper, pajamas on, pick out clothes, put shoes away, hang up coat

Tidy up: pick up toys, put books away, tidy my room, put clothes away, match socks, fold towels, hang up towel, wipe the sink, clean up crafts, fluff pillows, vacuum, tidy the car

Kitchen: set the table, clear my plate, wipe the table, help cook, unload dishes, load dishes, put groceries away, pack my lunch, fill water bottle, wash vegetables, help bake, put snacks away

Helping out: feed the pet, walk the dog, water plants, take out recycling, dust, sweep, get the mail, sort laundry, pull weeds, rake leaves, carry groceries, pack my bag

How the daily chart works

  1. Put up today's jobs in the order you want them done.
  2. When a job is done, your child pulls the card and posts it in the done pocket.
  3. When every card is in the pocket, a star goes on the star spot. The cards go back up the next day.

Same system as our Photo Visual Schedule

The cards, stars and pockets match the Photo Visual Schedule in our shop, so the two work side by side.

Who it is for

Parents and caregivers of young children, for a chore chart made from their own photos.

How it works

  1. Take one photo per job from your child's eye level, about ten minutes around the house.
  2. Print the photos 2 inches square for the cards (six fit on one 4x6 print) and 1 inch square for the weekly and family charts (twenty-four fit on one 4x6).
  3. Print the pages at 100% scale, glue in the photos, laminate, and add hook-and-loop dots. Mark the weekly charts with a dry-erase marker, or print the star page on sticker paper.

Sizes and format

  • 4 PDF files: the 16 pages in US Letter (8.5 x 11 in) and A4, each in color and in a plain ink-saving version. Cards and slots are the same size in both paper sizes.
